New Jersey Tackles Behavioral Issues in the Nursing Home with S-COPE

Many loved ones who has moved to a nursing home or other group residence exhibit new behaviors that could create a crisis situation for the facility if left unchecked.  While nursing homes are expected to deal with a wide variety of behavioral issues associated with the aging process, a particular facility could decide that a resident’s behavioral issues merit hospitalization or an alternative placement, leaving the resident’s family at wit’s end.  New Jersey is attempting to deal with these issues before they turn into a crisis with the S-COPE program.   If you think that your loved one who is in a facility is experiencing behavioral issues that haven’t been addressed, encourage the facility’s social worker to contact the S-COPE program, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-855-718-2699.
